Ecology
After further reflexion, Philippe Bellefleur felt the need for a social and political engagement in his paintings. Thus Ecology was a cause to defend at the same time as a source of inspiration.
The important work field of the ecologist Isabelle Grégoire inticed him to examine the natural environment in Sutton. He was impressed by her calendar depicting regional spring flowers. She allied art and science in her illustrations. The mural "Florilège canadien" is a tangible result of this (see home page). Following this, the painter exhibited his work at the Sutton Art Gallery, entitled Two Generations, a cause: creativity, 2015.
As for his love of nature, Philippe Bellefleur said: "Thanks to my parents, I had the chance to visit the most beautiful sights in the province of Quebec. The Simon and Labelle lakes, Cap à l'Aigle on the northern coast, Percé in the Gaspy Peninsula, etc...I followed my father who was searching for great sights to paint". It is said that the young Philippelearned to paint sitting on the knees of his father.
Nowadays P. Bellefleur is inspired also by the exuberant nature of the tropics
